Bankruptcy Search

The Bankruptcy search reviews billions of credit records to pinpoint the bankruptcy history of an applicant and return a complete picture of their credit history.

Before you begin
  • Depending on your product subscription, you may not have access to this search.
  • Your DPPA (Driver’s Privacy Protection Act), GLBA (Gramm‐Leach‐Bliley Act), and DMF (Death Master File) permissible use selections appear at the bottom of the form. Click the links if you need to change your permissible use selections before you run a new search.
  • Your FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) permissible use selection appears at the bottom of the form. Click the link if you need to change your permissible use selection before you run a new search.
  • Enter information in at least one field. When you enter information into multiple fields, your search precision increases.
  • To search more broadly, complete fewer fields.
  • When you search common names, complete as many fields as you can to avoid large result sets.

At a minimum, you must provide information in the following fields:

  • Last Name
  • First Name
  • Street Address
  • City
  • State
  • ZIP Code

For optimal results, also enter the SSN (Social Security number).

Procedure
  1. Enter the abbreviated case number.
  2. Enter the full case number.
  3. Enter the SSN with or without dashes (for example, 123456789, 123-45-6789, 123 45 6789, or 6789).
  4. Enter the LexID® number that is assigned by LexisNexis® Risk Solutions with or without dashes (for example, 0123-4567-8901 or 012345678901).
  5. Enter the last name.
  6. Enter the first name.
  7. Enter the middle name or the middle initial.
  8. Enter the street address with or without numbers.
    You can also include any other details (for example, Ave, St, Ct, or Blvd).
  9. Enter the city.
  10. Select the state.

  11. Enter the ZIP Code (for example, 12345 or 12345-6789).
  12. Enter a complete phone number with or without dashes, spaces, periods, or an area code (for example, 1234567891, (123)4567891, 123 456 7891, 123 4567891, 123-456-7891, 123.456.7891, 456-7891, or (123) 456 7891).
  13. Enter the subject's DOB (date of birth) in one of the following formats: MM/yyyy (for example, 02/1963), MM/dd/yyyy (for example, 02/14/1963), or yyyy (for example, 1963).
  14. Enter the attorney's name.
  15. Select the court location.
  16. To associate your search with a customer or a topic, provide a label (for example, the customer's name or a topic name) in the Reference ID field.
    The History function lets you view the searches that are associated with a reference ID.
